Virtual reality TV coming soon April 18, 2007 Ben Camm-Jones
Living out your rock star fantasies has come a step closer to reality with announcement of a new entertainment concept where the world of television and video games collide.
Gaming company EA and Big Brother creator Endemol have dreamt up Virtual Me, a Second Life-style experience where you can create a virtual character and compete on TV talent shows similar to Fame Academy.
"People are starting to spend more time online than they are watching TV. Both markets are now important and this has huge implications for content creators," said Peter Bazalgette, chief creative officer at Endemol.
The aim of Virtual Me is to create a more interactive experience where people have the chance to take part in reality TV shows and can socialise with others online.
The launch of Virtual Me is to coincide with the next series of Big Brother and a website will go live "in the coming months".
