According to the fake report double world champion Alonso was seriously injured in a car accident in Bilbao.

A spam email campaign with a link to an 'amateur recording' which supposedly depicts the moment of the crash and its spectacular blaze was spotted by researchers at Panda Security.

But the link will actually lead to a banking Trojan being installed on your PC, ready to steal financial details when you log in to your bank account or make a purchase.

"A banking Trojan wrapped up in a story involving a Formula One star during the peak of the Grand Prix season bears a high probability of success. There are many devoted fans out there whose curiosity might drive them to fall for the trick in a rash moment," said Dominic Hoskins, country manager at Panda Security UK.
