Net users are Googlers March 17, 2004 Veronique De Freitas
Google is the most popular search engine amongst Europeans net users, according to latest research.
More than 55 million web users across Europe use Google as their search engine, net measurement company Nielsen//NetRatings reports.
According to the figures, Google has the most number of page views with 52 pages viewed per person during January 2004. It's also the only search engine to attract users for more than 10 minutes per month.
Nielsen/NetRatings report also reveals that 27 million of Europeans use MSN Search and approximately 12 million use Yahoo. The search engines attract users for four and seven minutes a month, respectively.
Tom Ewing, internet market analyst at Nielsen//NetRatings, told Web User: “The popularity of Google grows by words of mouth. Google has faced more competition in the past few years, but its popularity is growing continuingly.”
The top 10 search engines in Europe also include AOL, Voila, Lycos Europe and Microsoft.
