Glastonbury ticket touts trounced
March 31, 2004
Toby Earle

Tickets for the hugely popular Glastonbury Festival will go on sale tomorrow at ticketing website Aloud.com.

In a move that's set to save wear and tear on the “redial” buttons of the nations' phones, tickets will go on sale online for the first time tomorrow at 8pm.

Online ticket purchasers will need to prove their identity on arrival at Glastonbury, which this year sees Oasis top the bill alongside Sir Paul McCartney, to prevent the tickets from being purchased by touts.

“People who've bought online will be asked at entry points to produce a copy of a utility bill, because Michael Eavis [Glastonbury's organiser] wanted to give people the chance to go and to keep the tickets out of tout's hands,” Gigi Dryer at Aloud.com told Web User.

Curbing the touts' activities and giving the genuine music and festival fan best chance at buying tickets has been a prime concern of the organisers.

“We're just trying to give festival goers the chance to come and keep as many tickets off the black market as possible. There's been a huge amount of thought behind this to give real festival goers the best possible opportunity to get a ticket,” added Dryer.

But if you fancy going to Glastonbury - you can also book tickets via a telephone hotline - you'll have to be quick as last year's festival sold out in 24 hours. .
