With a 9in display, the Philips digital photo frame wasn't the biggest of the screens we tested and it doesn't come loaded with options like Wi-Fi connections. Instead, the frame excels with its ease of use. Cunningly, it has a five-way directional button on the back, like the little joysticks you might find on a mobile phone, so navigating its well-presented and feature-packed menus is a breeze. It's not a superfluous gimmick – there are a lot of options and menus to navigate on the device, which can be used to perform a variety of functions including simple image processing such as cropping, rotating and recolouring.

It can display photos at 680 x 480 pixels and has a natural-looking, crisp screen. It also has some unique features, such as an automatic orientation detector, which will rotate your pictures if you hold it a different way, and four interchangeable face-plates so you can alter the look of the frame depending on its surroundings or your mood.

Most important is the interface though. Sharing and displaying photos should be simple and fun, and Philips has certainly embraced the concept with this photo frame.
