Sauce Reader's blue-ish interface has been designed to look like a Microsoft Office tool, but, in contrast to Microsoft's commercial strategy, home users can download it free.

It can be set up as the default program for reading feeds, allowing you to click directly on a feed link from your favourite browser and be taken straight to Sauce Reader to look at it. Feeds you subscribe to can then be sorted in all manner of different ways, though we found a slight niggle in that while it can order posts by date, with the latest day at the top, you can't then order that day's posts in the same way. But it's a minor niggle in an otherwise lovely reader, and it comes recommended to those who want a standalone piece of software with all the trimmings.
