WinZip is probably the best known compression tool on the market. The program can be used in Wizard or Advanced mode, depending on how much hand-holding you need, and you can create archives using the right-click menu. On the format front, WinZip supports several, but while it is possible to extract RAR files, they cannot be created. When browsing archives, WinZip will display thumbnail previews, but an upgrade to the Pro version ($49.95) is necessary to view full sized images without extraction. While there are more advanced options such as encryption and archive splitting, WinZip is an excellent tool for someone who is simply after a no-nonsense compression utility.
